Aunt Jessie

This woman was truely one of a kind. She was the sister of my grandfather. She lived in a big white house with a swing on the front porch. There was a 2 room house in front of her house. This little house was known as the slave quaters. In the old days there was a family that owned other people to work the farm. I'm so glad that time is gone. Aunt jessie allowed my moter and me to live in the little house. It had no running water, or bathroom. My mother, being the strong woman she was, made this our home4. Soon thereafter, my brother cabby was born, then stephen. Aunt jessie just was so proud to see those little babies. She had never been married. Two years after stephen was born, he died with an asthma attack. For about a month after that aunt jessie kept cabby and me because kent was born. Aunt jessie didn't want alot of stress on mama, after losing a child , and giving birth to another.

Aunt jessie had a large lego set and a log cabin block set for us to play with. We would make all kind of things. She would make cookies called tea cookies and to this day i have not had a cookie like that anywhere.

Aunt jessie had grey hair and mostly wore a grey dress. She was soft spoken.
She had some bee hives which she collected honey from. The days when she would collect the honey, she had gloves, and a funny hat on so the bees would not sting. The honey was great. She always was so afaid the we would get to close and get stung. She would expess 'don't go near those boxes ' everytime she would go with her.

She had an outside job from the house. She worked at the shirt factory in lawrenceville. This was the only job most people had, she was never sick or late to my knowledge. She would bring us candy once in a while, if we had been good. She did not travel, but read the paper every day. She was aware of thing and could tell us stories about places we just knew she had been there.

I think that's why i tell my granddaughter, if you read you can go anywhere without leaving your room.

Aunt jessie had alot of special qualitys that we all saw. She mad an inpression on us and we all loved her.

A Trip to Grandma's House

Everytime our parents said we were going to grandma's house for sunday dinner, we were excited.

My grandparents had a little white house that set on top of a knoll that you could see when you drove up to it. You could see it from the road.

There were two drives, one from the main road route 58, the other from a side road that came in front of the house. The drive from route 58 was lined with apple trees on the left side and electric fence on the right to keep the cows in. We were all told do not touch that wire. That was ok because we were more interested in getting the apples. They were small and green, but they were great. After the short ride on the path as grandma would call it, we were at the house.

Oh my what a joy, the grass was green and in the front yard grandma had some rose bushes in a circle. They seem to be always blooming all year. They were so pretty, and grandma was so proud of them.

On the front porch was one swing, that we all took turns swinging with grandma. Granddaddy had a favorite green iron chair he sat in. There were two other chairs for company. Most of the children sat on the step leading off the porch, if we were not in the swing with our favorite person, grandma.

If it was a nice cool day grandma would put some chairs in the yard, and everyone would gather there to talk. That was great because there were big oak trees that kept the cool in the front yard.

The house was in the middle of a circle drive and filled with big oak trees. Do you get the picture, that this house was a piece of heaven.

Well when you entered the front door, this room was filled with wonderful things. There was a piano, a couch, a cedar chest, a dressing table (that all the girls primped at) and a bed. It was for guest but all us grandchildren wanted to sleep with grandma. Her room was to the right. Her room had two beds, one for her and the other for jerry bane, when he still lived at home. Grandma's bed always felt the best. She could put a quilt on you when it was cold, and it was so heavy you would't move until morning.

Ok, i got side-tracked, but this was a great room.

Going back to where the piano was, to enter the dining room you had to pass thru french doors. That was like a movie. Grandma only shut them to keep noises out when someone was sleeping.
I loved those doors.

Now we are in the dining room. This had a big round table, a china cabinet for the good dishes, a stove, a recliner for granddaddy and a bed. This is where granddaddy slept.

This is where some of the of the best sunday dinners were ever served. Always great with hot rolls and desert. The blackberry dumplins were my favorite. Grandma was a great cook. She could turn dough into pies, breat, and desert in no time.

The next room was the kitchen. We all wanted to help. She never said no. We helped with dished, one washing, one drying. Grandma said we could always help even if its putting butter on the table. I never heard her say an unkind word or loose her templer. With so many people around you would think she might but she enjoyed having her family with her.

If you go out the back door there were chickens and animals to feed. Grandma would show us all how to do that. She even taught me how to milk a cow. No thanks, but i saw her do it alot. She would make beautiful ball of butter and make a design on it that made it her own.

My grandparents had a house filled with love. Grandma made sure of that. She played the piano and we watched. When there was a prayer meeting, she made sure that there were refreshments. Everyone loved her and she made such an impression on everyone she came intouch with.

Oops, back to the house, it was 4 rooms, that raised 9 children and sometimes me. I don't think about a big house, when you see one on tv, that would have had this much love in it.
If buckingham palace could write the same about the queen as i have my grandmother, then maybe i would change my mind, but nothing comes close to my grandmother.

This is my thanksgivings story, Because i'm truly thankful for all i have had and all i have. I am a blessed granddaughter, daughter, mother, and grandmother, because i was taught my the best.

Our angel here.

All my love grandma. Love dale

20/20 Eyesight

Dominic came to me yesterday and said "nanny you see that". I looked hard at the grass and the leaves to see what he was looking at. It was a frog in the grass, but with all the leaves he just blended in. When Dominic see something for the first time there is a smile on his face and a light goes off in his eyes.

I have a nephew named Justin, and when he was 6 his parents would let me take him to movies and plays.

Sometimes we were the only ones in the movies theater, but Justin didn't care. He could sit anywhere he wanted. Then we would go to a play he wanted to sit in the balcony. He wanted to see everything. It was wonderful to see things from his point of view. He sees things for the first time and then you see things in a different way.

I am lucky that Dominic is two and I get to see things that he sees for the first time. For example, when it rains, he wants to know where the rain comes from. We were out in the yard and the last leaves were falling from the trees. He called it raining leaves. Each time Dominic sees things it's for the first time. His eyes are open to the entire world . He sees things and wants to know what it is and where does it come from.

We see things and don't think anything about it, but a two year old , sees an airplane, motorcycle, boat, or even an ant, he has not seen before he is amazed.
They are thrilled and want to know "What is that?".

So, when you see things, imagine seeing it thru a 2 year old and remember something about it. Maybe a child will be with you one day and you will see something thru their eyes for the first time.

Dominic, is our gift from God and we are teachers for the little ones. I enjoy watching Dominic and watching his eyes light up even watching a frog.

SEE IT ALL LOVE DALE

My Angel

First of all this is a story about an angel. have you ever met one? Well our family was raised by one. I guess this could be a story about my grandmother, but really it's about a "lady" that was a friend, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. When you mentioned the name Norma Spence Malone, the expression that would come on faces were so much alike. First the eyes shined, then there is a smile, that would say, "yes I know that wonderful woman". She was a simple woman, but made such an impact on people, she came in touch with. She had nine children, 2 sets of twins(that couldn't have been a picnic) but she gave so much love, she had 4 boys and one single girl. The two older children must have thought "hey we were here first". I have talked with the children, and they talk about how hard it was growing up and things they had to go without, but none of them express they were without love.

I don't want to leave my grandfather out, but please remember the times we are looking at, are the 30's and 40's. This was a time when a man's main interest was providing for his family and working his crops. I can't think what my grandfather would say if someone said "before you get angry count to ten". Oh yeah he would yell and count later. He knew he was married to someone special. A lady that had given him a family that he was proud of. The art of disciplinary was his. The art of loving was grandmother's. Of course she had to be stern, but she was so caring. As the children grew older they immediately wanted to leave home, because they worked hard since they were small, and they thought the pastures were greener away from home. Sometimes when you are having a person trying to mold you into a person people will later respect, you can't see that.

Grandmother was always there for all of us grandchildren. If we had a problem, she would listen, sometimes she would even be on our side and try and talk to our parents. As we grew older and had our families we understood that the wings on grandmother covered us when we were troubled with our lives. It's hard to tell you how my life has changed not having my grandmother to call on the phone or take a trip to her house, where she always had cabbage waiting for me. Well all of us have our memories so I suggest that you sit in a quiet place and focus on knowing an angel. I know that the thoughts may go to your special moments with my grandmother. So let me close this by saying it truly was a pleasure being a granddaughter to an angel.

Aunt Evelyn

Oh my, where do I begin about my Auntie Evelyn.

She was the first born into the Malone family. Her love for her father was so special. It is really hard to find that love now. She had eight siblings total, both brothers and sisters. I guess she must have felt left out sometimes, with all those children. But, the love was shared in this family and left no one out. All children had chores to do. Everyone was treated just as important. My aunt raised three children. She was a wonderful mother. Her children loved her so the word 'mother' meant so much , life friend, confident, and power.

Her belief in God was so strong when she passed away, no one even could consider her going anywhere but to the kingdom of heaven. Her impact on people still leaves her mark. She believed God was her life, and she taught Sunday school to learn and teach more about the Bible.

She has since departed, but our life has been so much richer having had her in it . She was truly a wonderful aunt.

Roommates

When you think of a roommate, you think of an apartment where two people share all expenses. Well I have a roommate and I'm in the hospital. She didn't apply, or come with any references. We were just thrown together because of our illnesses.

We shared our stories of our families and soon realize that we have a lot in common, such as children, illnesses, stress, and trust in God.

It seems that everyone has sickness and at the moment when you feel that everything in going wrong, that's the time when most people say "oh dear God please help me" or they will begin to pray even if they haven't prayed in years. My only insight is that we should always have God as our roommate. If we pray and talk with him we will find we can overcome almost everything. With his help we can have our family blessed and our illnesses cured.

When my friend and I talked about God, we found strength from each other, therefore we felt better. Isn't it wonderful to have such comfort in the word and prayer. I will always want God as my roommate.

Family

Yesterday I was thinking about the most important things in my life. Well without a doubt, my two girls came to mind. Michele, my first born, blonde hair and blue eyes, then Jennifer came with dark hair and hazel eyes. They are as different as night and day.

Then my health. I have had some rather serious problems, but with prayer and faith in God I have gotten through each one.

Of course my mother and brothers, were next. There are not enough words to describe my mother who gave birth to me. She is strong, loving, caring, and her honesty is so powerful.

My brothers are two good men now. Little boys that have grown with the strength from our mother.

Then it came to me the most important thing in my life has always been there all along, my family.

They range from my grandparents who are both deceased to my new grandchildren. Family is the most important in everyone's lives. What a wonderful family I have, so let me introduce them.

My grandparents were of the old school, work hard, good citizens and above all have respect in yourself. My grandfather was a powerful man, he was the father of nine children. That was quite a job having so many children to mold into respectable people.

My grandmother took up where granddaddy left off. Not only was she a loving and caring person, she made sure her children respected others. She also made sure dinners were on time, baths taken and worship every Sunday.
I have already touched on how wonderful I think my mother is. She is my rock and I love her with all my heart.

I have two brothers, one works as a dispatcher for a large trucking company. He has two children, the ideal family. The other is a welder for a large electric company, so he comes home with burn marks all on his arms. He has a daughter, that was a product of a kidney transplant. God works in wonderful ways. I had another brother but he died when he was 22 months old. We will never know what he would have been in life, but we know that he was much needed by God , to leave us so quickly.

I have a new granddaughter and a new son in law. The baby in so brand new, her mind is open to all new things. She has no hate or meanness in her heart. Her wings are not tarnished. She is pure.

My son in law was sent from heaven to make my daughter's life complete. He loves her so much he doesn't even have to say anything, they both just beam when they are together.

My stepfather is not to be left out. He is a gentle man with soft words. He can be stern if needed. Mostly the first thing you notice is his gentle manner. He is wonderful with children.

Next my aunts and uncles, they treat me like I'm their sister not their niece. They are always there when I need a friend.
So I guess you can see I have so much to be thankful for when it comes to my family.

Granddaddy

Happy Father's Day Buck

First Happy Father's day to all you proud fathers. Next I would like to tell you about the most outstanding man I have ever known. Most of you will recall his name as 'Buck' Malone. His given name, William Washington Malone demands power and strength. He was all of that. We was the father of nine children, two sets of twins. He wasn't a worldly man but he gave each of his children the meaning of having respect for yourself, which they in turn taught to their children.

My grandfather was a wonderful man. He took care of his family and gave them such wisdom, that when it was time to leave home on their own, they were secure in themselves. He also would advise his grandchildren on the right thing to do, and we always knew he would be there for us.

He always wore a white shirt, khaki pants, and an off white brim hat. He was handsome man, I guess that's why my grandmother loved him so. He never traveled outside of Virginia, but he knew so much. I am proud to be his granddaughter. Happy Father's day

Carol

Today I was transferred from Coronary Care Unit to a regular room. That in itself was a treat. I was immediately introduced to Carol. She came into to take my vitals. But of all the people to do that in this huge hospital Carol was sent to me.

The moment I met her you could sense that she was a kind, warm, and nice person. We just began to talk about family. She had brothers and sisters. I only have brothers. When we started talking about animals, she had a lot when she was little. That reminded me of being on the farm with grandmother and granddaddy. We had goats, cows, chickens, dogs and cats. Carol's smile could warm you and you felt like you had known her for a long time. Isn't that a wonderful thing a person can possess, to let you feel at ease when you are upset about your illness. Such people are truly a gift and they are blessed with that caring touch.

I just wanted to say thank you Carol for making my transfer easy and smooth.

May you always have your guardian angel sitting on your shoulder and helping people.

Twins

When the word 'twin' is used there are always the thought of two people, that look alike. I have two aunts that do not look alike but they are twins. Although my mother and her sister are so alike it's hard to tell them apart.

The warmth and love that they give is double. Such caring people, which I'm sure this was passed on from my grandmother.

Can you imagine two sets of twins back to back. God blessed our family with these beautiful women. They are always helpful if you have any problems. I am so blessed to have Jean in my life. She is one of the twins. Her twin Joan lives in Texas, but that does not stop her from being close to us as if she lives down the street. My mother's twin Myrtle lives in Florida, and my mother Myriel talks to her twin every day. The closeness with these twins cannot be explained. The amount of love they have is unconditional.

They have had to work hard all their lives. The twins all lived on a farm with their brothers and sister. All had to do chores, to keep everything running smooth. They all worked together. Even today if there is a problem the sisters are together.

Thank you God for letting us have these angels with us who loves us and we love them.

Being Blessed

Most people know that the word blessed means a gift from God. You see God has a hand in every minute that we take a breath.

Have you ever looked at the sunrise or sunset? Isn't that the most beautiful picture that was ever painted by his own hands.

The gift of a new born baby, now that a miracle. Just remember we were at one time that blessed event to our family. The spring and summer rains that condition the soil so the plants can grow, and provide food for the people.

It has such a smell of being pure and clean. A lot of people like to walk in the rain and feel each and every drop touch them. We are truly blessed to have the four seasons, that bring so much different joys.

If we take just a moment out of our hectic lives to think of all the blessings we have, I'm sure our lives would be a lot happier. God has blessed us all .

Welcome Family and Friends

Each year we gather together to have a dinner in honor of grandma, the Malone family get together for a family reunion. We all loved and cherished every moment we spent with her. She was such a special woman, words are not enough to express how we feel. Well I have a few words to let you know how I feel.

So sit back, sip on tea, and remember how one amazing woman effected all our lives.

Church

Yesterday I attended services at our new Church. Well, it's not exactly new, it about five years old. You see, the church I was raised in burned down.

The members decided to build the church back up. Well I guess you never can go back, but there had to be a church in this community.

As I sat in the pews, listening to our new minister, I seem to drift away to the memories of my younger days.

First the old church had beautiful stain glass windows from ceiling to floor almost. The old church faced the highway. The new church faces the side and the minister faces away from the highway.
During the summer we could open the bottom portion of the stain glass windows and look at the big oak trees that provided shade to our departed loved ones. We listen and fanned our way to being cool.

Now we have air condition that now you need a sweater on in the middle of the summer.
Don't get me wrong I love our new church, but the memories of the old church are so alive. But we now have new children, and this is their church. They won't remember my old church only this new one, with a new life.

God has seen a wonderful way of keeping our community together and bringing up a wonderful minister.

Our new church is truly a house of the Lord.

Grandma

How can you think of an angel without thinking of the most wonderful woman ever entered into our lives? That woman was a wife, mother, and grandmother to us all.

She was born to the parents of Willie Shield Spence and Ada Matthews Spence. She met and married William Washington (Buck) Malone. She gave birth to 9 children. Evelyn, Al, Myrtle, Myriel, Jean, Joan, Earl, Carl, and Jerry. Of these children she was blessed with 21 grandchildren.

Each of her children have their own memories of growing up on the farm , the place that grandma and granddaddy called home.

Most of the grandchildren spent some time at grandma's house. We all have our special moments. When I was a child I spent a lot of time with her. My favorite memories are on the front porch in the swing. We used to swing and shell peas and butterbeans. The conversations we had were so special that sometimes when I need a moment to calm down because of a stressful day, I can just close my eyes and think about the porch and swing, and I can see grandma there with me.

We all gained so much from her strong and calm words. If you needed advice, she would give it to you. You need not think about whether she was right or not you just took the advice and did what was right. As grandma always said "just do the right thing" and that advice always turned out to be right. Wasn't she a smart woman.

How many of you can remember coming into the kitchen and the first thing you did is to open up the bread tin on the table and get a dry biscuit. It may have been dry but wasn't it good?
How about before grandma got a cook stove, she had that old stove and she could fry bread on it. Oh my, how so good.

Remember when we had to go milk cows, feed chickens, and slop the hogs? The only thing my children know about pigs is bacon, ham and the movie "Babe". I bet all of the children remember pulling tobacco, milking cows, going outside to potty, working the fields, bringing water in the house, swimming in the pond, killing chickens, and sleeping together (usually wanting to get near grandma). Grandma always seemed to keep everything together . She was amazing.
Our family was blessed because her angel wings touched each and every heart that she came in touch with. I have always told my girls to follow your heart and always be honest. This is one of many things I learned from grandma and I want to be a good grandma to my grandchildren as my grandma was to me.

Being a grandmother for the first time changes your life. I saw Courtney Michelle Brown come into this world. I can only guess this was another angel sent here to spread love. Our hearts are so open to her and I want her to feel that I am a great grandmother as mine was to me.

Shoes

Have you ever wanted a pair of shoes so bad that you would do anything to have them? Movie stars spend thousands of dollars for one pair. Most people I know go to Payless where they have sales (buy one get the other pair free) now that's a sale. Well I have an Aunt that loves her shoes "like most women".

I went down to her house, about 60 miles from my house, to spend a few days. We decided that we would take a short shopping trip to North Carolina. We packed the car like we were going to be gone for several days, with water, snacks, wet wash cloths (my grandmother basics she had to have item). Oh yes I forgot a pair of shoes to change into after all the walking we planned on doing.

We loaded up the car and checked everything twice and then we were on our way. We were traveling about 40miles an hour when this 18 wheeler truck came along side of us and he waved. My thought was a young man that runs these big trucks, that she might know and he was just acknowledging her on the road. Then she saw a shoe fly off of the trunk. That's what he was trying to tell her that he had seen a shoe fly off before.

She immediately pulled off and in amazement she found out that she had put her favorite pair of comfortable shoes on the trunk and it did not close all the way. When she found this out it she had one of the saddest looks on her face I had ever seen. She said "Dale we have to go find my shoes". We were on a four lane expressway. Oh My!! She went off the next exit and proceeded to go back and get back on the road, about where the trucker had motioned her about her shoe. Her only concern was finding those shoes. As we made our way back on the expressway in the right direction she said "Oh Dale I think I see one". She pulled over in the emergency lane, got out, ran into the road and retrieved one shoe. We drove a little down the road and I spotted the other shoe. Again she pulled over and retrieved the precious shoe. I told her she could have lost her life trying to get that one pair of shoes, they must have cost a lot. She replied "they are just the most comfortable shoes and I think I got them at a yard sale".

Well that's my Aunt, she had her shoes. We were on our way to shop and we had a wonderful day sharing time with each other. But I will always remember things that make people happy are simple: family, friends and of course a comfortable pair of shoes.

T-shirt Slogans

I was talking to my aunt and she told me about the about her day at the mall. She was looking at t-shirts different people had on and the logos on them. So I thought I would write a story about t-shirts. They come in all shapes, sizes, color and most of them have a logo of some kind on them. Companies put their name on them to advertize sports events and favorite team or players name. States have some shirts with their motto on it , car company advertize their favorite car. Then there are movies, with characters, and then there are the ones that seem to have no reason at all. For example (I'm here with her) which a man is wearing and another on (I'm with him) which the woman is wearing. Then there are the ones that have arrows on them that say (I'm with stupid), now that is not a boost for your character.

This one t-shirt my aunt saw in Texas said (you would look better with me). Now is that a real self esteem builder or what. Is it saying no matter what you look like, you would look better with him. Well I have a saying that should be on a good tee shirt. (Be kind to one another) always think of the other person and be happy. Most teenagers wear t-shirts and all of them have something on them. Well maybe if our businesses would think about what they put on their shirts, people would be more aware of the good things that can be expressed.

God's Handprints

On a brisk Saturday morning Laddie and I took a trip to Manassas, Va. It is 102 miles from Richmond. It takes almost two hours to get there. The trip was full of Gods handy work every time I would look out of the window. There were trees turning beautiful colors. I saw green, yellow, red, gold, burgundy leaves and some trees were bare. God is the only person I can say that plants these trees. His handy work is everywhere. Not a cloud in the sky, so we were able to enjoy all of his great work. His handy work is everywhere we look , just take the time to look and thank him for his treasures.

Faith, Family and Freedom

Oh my, I can only start with this story by saying these three words are needed in every family. If these words are in our family then every day would be a magical day.

Let's start with faith, I was raised in a country church. Every time you would see the church an ora would be around it. From the time the land was given as a jester of faith, until the last nail was driven It was a strong faith that this community needed this church. Without faith to encourage people we would not have this beautiful house of the Lord.

Now let's explore the word family. What a beautiful word. It describes everyone that is connected to you. Our family is rather large but that just means there are a lot of love to share. Family is a word that has several meanings, one love, respect, honor, and always being there for one another. Family can deal with anything that comes along as long as they stay together. Our family has dealt with all the realms of the circle. There are nine children and 21 grandchildren. It is a privilege to be a member of this family.

Freedom - this word is really an easy word that connects all the previous words. Our freedom means, faith and family. We live in a country that is based on freedom. There are so many people that have to live their entire lives not knowing the word freedom. We are so proud of our country that all 4 sons and one of my aunts served in the armed forces to protect our freedom. Our family has always cherished our country.

The writing of this is to explain what these three words mean to me. That faith, family and freedom are all words that have special meaning to all.

May god bless

Mother

Today my mother has been dead for three years. Time has just flown by. Just yesterday I could pick up the phone and say "hi", "I love you" or just drop by. I even miss her smoking. She would have one lit all the time. She was too sick to stop and they made her happy so as a family we decided to buy them for her it if it made her happy.

She was short and weighed less than 60 pounds in her last days, but what a powerful woman she was. Everyone respected her and loved her. She is so missed by all that loved her.

Today is a hard day because I miss her and this is a reminder that she is gone.

With all my love and my prayers are with you mama.

Meeting Mr. B

I don't even remember ever meeting him but one night I had a dream about this man. It was an insight to what my aunt had the pleasure of knowing. He was a tall kind of stocky but oh so handsome. He was soft spoken but his words had power. When he looked in my aunts his eyes just lit up. Here he was this big tall Texan and she was this tiny lady. His hand was so big, I just know holding her hand, he must have felt like he was going to break it. Joan looked liked a little doll next to him, but I know she didn't want to be anywhere else. What a sweet and kind man my aunt had. Those Malone women know how to pick them. Out of all the girls she got the cream of the crop.

He never mentioned work, but talked about his farm and horses all of his family had horses. He was so proud of his family. This man dressed in white shirts, jeans, and boots. He was a man to remember. That's why at 5:51 am I am writing this story. He was a strong, powerful man yet gentle, and I didn't want to forget one thing about meeting him.

Thank you Mr. B for letting me get to meet you and for allowing my Aunt 's love be directed to such a wonderful man.

Oh I couldn't remember the nickname Mr. B called Joan, but I'm sure she will.

Thank you for letting me meet you Mr. B if only in a dream.

Uncle Al

This man you would think would be hard to write about, but I find he is my easier subject. He was born a subject. He was born second in a big family of Malone's. He has always been the one that worked every day no matter how he felt. As long as I have known him he has worked. His family was important and still is.

When he would come to grandmothers he would always enter through the kitchen and inspect the biscuit tin on the table. I think that he felt like no matter what turmoil his life was in he could always get a biscuit at grandmas.

Uncle Al is a wonderful man and always positive. Do you have a favorite memory of Al, savor the moment.

May God bless

Carl

Born the seventh child into the Malone family. That was luck. He would go to high school, get on all wining football teams with the number 55. That number has since retired as a respect to him. When he got out of school he joined the Marines. That is one of the toughest branches for serving our country. He spoke of serving his country to the best of his ability.

When he finally graduated he move to Richmond to be employed by VA Power to show his talent.

Without warning God decided Carl was needed in Heaven. He is there to look over us that are still here. He is up with Grandmother, and we are here with his protection. He was amazing and if you are very quiet, Carl will say "just do it, it will be ok. You can make the right decision".

Thank for your protection

Charlie

I didn't give birth to him, but he means so much to me. He calls me Mom and always talk to me with respect. He is a loving person. Anyone that meets him immediately likes him. Men strike up a conversation, women just want to be near. He has a soft voice, but can be stern when needed. He walks with pride about himself, because at such a young age he knows who he is.

You see this wonderful young man is the son I never had. He is my daughter's husband. I guess people would say oh that would be your son in law. Well yes, but so much bad things has been said about the word [in law] that in a good family "in law" goes unnoticed. What son in law would say come stay with us as long as you want just after getting married. He truly has a heart of gold. Our family was so blessed when this young man entered into our family. He is also a member of the Marines, therefore, he had to take my daughter and move to North Carolina. He made her feel safe away from home and now they have the most perfect angel that has ever had wings.

This family is growing stronger everyday. My son believes in all good things therefore good things comes to him.

I am really proud of my new son. God continues to bless this family.

Jerry Bane

Oh my, this is like writing about my brother. When we were little, we were together every day. I'm a year older than he is. My Grandmother never gave one something without giving to the other. We had the run of the farm. After raising 8 children, my grandmother decided to have another child in her 40's. I was already here for a whole year when Jerry was born. My birthday is July 22, 1949 and Jerry's birthday is July 24, 1950. How close a bond we have. All the pictures you see of us, when we were little are together. T he closeness continued all of the teen years and if I needed to talk, he was there.

Once I had a real emotional problem and he sent me a book 'i still have and I read it with thoughts of Jerry each time. We went thru some bad times and I was there for him. One day we planted pine trees in his front lawn and they are still there. Those trees are a reminder of a bad time that grew something good. After that period of time Jerry turned his entire life around to God. God touched him in a powerful way and has never let go. Jerry is a man with respect and love from his community. He is one special man and I am proud of him. He is to be looked up to for all that he has dealt with and always came out of it knowing God was always in control. He is my first 'brother'and we are still there for each other.

I love him and the man that he has become. May God continue to bless him.

Sunrise

Isn't a sunrise an art of work? I got up early today and I haven't seen one in quite a long time. This morning I decided to watch God as he did his artwork on the sky. First it's still a little dark, but the light of sun is peaking through to kinda get your attention. Then you see a little red or orange, as if to say, ok feast you eyes on my morning masterpiece. then you see the sun ease up as if to say " is it that time already." Then all of a sudden you see this wonderful blue with white fluffy clouds just seem to appear. What a wonderful picture. God gives us so much and it's there for all to see. If we just stop and let at him do his work. Of course there are people who never take the time for God, only when they need him. I am lucky to know the wonder of all, he is always there for us. So I would encourage you to take the time to watch a sunrise or sunset, and try to see the miracles God performs each day without thoughts. We all should be so thankful we have God in our lives.

Myrtle

How can you describe a person that was so much like your own mother that you could not tell them apart? Well this has happened several times to me. Once when I was a teenager, I wanted to go on a date with my future husband, and my mother had said no. At that time Myrtle was at grandma's house the same time my mother was there. My mother had said no several times, but when you are a teenager that means try a different route. When my date arrived, we were upset that there was no way we could go anywhere. Myrtle came out on the porch and my date thought she was my mother, so he asked could we go to the movies. I looked at Myrtle and she said "go it's ok with me". I knew that she was not my mother but I didn't say anything and said lets go now. He said thank you and off we went. After I got in the car and we were on the road I told him what had just happened and we both knew we were in trouble. We went to the movies and when we got home, Myrtle had told my mother and cleared everything up. She was always the best.

Once in Florida, she was on oxygen, and she unplugged her tubes to smoke a cigarette, so she was a risk taker. Then when my mother was put on oxygen, she did the same thing. They were both strong women and I'm so proud I had the pleasure of being in their company.

I'm sure grandmother had her hands full, because she had two set of twins. Mama and Myrtle were more adventures then Jean and Joan. That just made them easier to deal with all kinds of problems. I know that there was love in everything they did.

May their thoughts be with us always.

Joan

The word (lady) is one of the words when this women enters the room, she is small and petite, short hair, and walks like a china doll. She wears black and white, a lot which brings out her features. She is well educated, a teacher that is a pleasure . I'm sure her students think this is a pleasure to be taught by such a lady.

She is one of the young set of twins. Her twin is Jean and both are wonderful women. When she was younger she was at the veteran hospital in Richmond,Va, and a tall texan saw her and the first thing he thought was (" I'm going to marry that angel") she was like all the Malone girls, they all have wings. They were given by our grandmother. Even Joan's son stated "he was going to marry a girl like his mother'.

This is a tribute to any women. All of us children were given wings and it's the way we use them that will always make our grandmother proud. Joan has touched all our lies and continue to do so.

When her voice is on the phone, your heart just skips a beat. The love comes thru the phone lines.

When she was not well in Texas , our family did everything to let her know she was thought of each day. We are a Malone family and we are always there for one another, all the time no matter what. The cards and phone calls, and prayers keep us all together. Our family is so blessed. may God continue to bless us all.

Friends

The word friends means so many different things to people. But I must tell you about on example that I have seen.

It's between 2 little girls. One is 5 the other is 6. They are together as much as they can be. They watch movies, eat snacks together. They have secrets just for each other.

This is the age where there are no problems. Mom and Dad take care of everything. This is the age they are taught manners, respect, and love for one another, the little girls are so special.

Maybe all of us wish we could go back to the ages of these best friends.

Laddie

This is a story about a man that came into our lives when I was a teenager. He is a quiet soft spoken man. I guess he can be outspoken, but I haven't ever seen that side. I know he makes my mother happy, and that's the most important thing to me.

He has become so much a part of our family, it hard to think what life would have been like if he had never entered our lives.

He took us in which included mother and three children. He made us a home and gave us guidance, and treated us like we were always his.

His love for my mother is unconditional, he does anything and go anywhere she want to go . She is his light as he is to her.

It's wonderful to see mama and laddie happy.

Since this writing my mother has passed on and I just wanted to thank Laddie for making of her memorial a special as she had wanted it. She was a lady and you always treated as one. Thank you from my heart

Blessed Hands

Friday I was with Michele at the grocery store and a little movement in the upper left chest got my attention. I went and sat down, took a nitro for my heart, it still had my attention. Fifteen minutes later I took another nitro and we went home. Upon reaching home, Jennifer called my hear t Dr. and we made an emergency appointment. We proceeded that afternoon ,upon getting there we went thru the normal heart test. They said I needed to go to the hospital on Wednesday to have a cath done to see if I had another blocked vessel blocked. I already have 2 stents. We made the appointment to go the hospital. The Dr said if it becomes worst come to the hospital as soon as possible. Well, I tried to keep a low key thru out the weekend, but Sunday, I felt no energy, two wonderful men from my church came over to give me a blessing. They could see I was going downhill , so they convinced Jennifer and me to go to the hospital. They took me back quickly and started an iv, because i was dehydrated and ran all kinds of test. They moved the cath appointment until the next morning.

My Dr-- Johns, was to do the cath. He is a nice Dr that you can trust. After the cath started he was only there about 10 minutes when he decided he had seen enough. I knew this was too soon and he wasn't even saying anything about a stent. I felt something he saw was going to be talked about. In another room , I saw him and as he walked toward me , he asked where Jennifer was. Well at that time I knew that he had something to discuss. When we got Jennifer , Dr Johns said "you need a triple heart bypass" well the shock was like a tingle all over my body. Jennifer was tearing up and I thought I'm not strong enough for this and I'm going to lose my family. He said we were going to get thru this because he knew the best surgeon. I guess that's what they tell you so you can calm down, but since I trusted him. he made us feel better about it.

All these test had to be run and also keep me calm. It was told to us about the bypass by the surgeon. He had done triple bypasses every day. A vein would come out of my right leg and a site would be placed in my neck so they wouldn't have to stick me as much. All scary because this has never happen to me before.

Well the day before surgery, in walks this tall, gentle man with a crisp white coat on and it was the surgeon that was going to do the operation. His name was Dr Christopher he spoke softly and extended his hand to introduce himself. He was so gentle in his manner that I felt at ease just talking to him. He sat beside my bed and explained everything and then he asked if I had and questions, he would take as long as he needed to make me feel ok. All I said is I know that your hands must be blesses by God to be able to do this type of surgery. He looked at his hands and said he was sure he could do this. I told him I know that God had given him the talent to learn and do this so he must be good at it. I felt at ease and confident that this man had blessed hands.

It's a long process to get better , but to keep in mind that this man had my heart in his hands and repaired the damage. How can anyone not believe that God is with us each day, hour, minute, second. He gives talent to all and blesses the one that use for others. There are parts of your body that you can live without, but the heart is not one of them. When your heart stops, you are finished with this life. To have a man go to school, learn and do surgery on your heart and put it back in your body, to make it work again, well that Dr. has blessed hands.

Thank you God for giving Dr. Christopher this talent and help me to serve you better.

amen

Dominic

This little man was born on July 21, 2007. He was almost my birthday present, but I guess you could say he was. His mother "Michele" went in labor and I was keeping Courtney that night. Jennifer was at the hospital with Michele, so Courtney and I didn't get to see him until the 22nd. What a birthday gift.

He opened his eyes when I touched his little hand, as if to say "happy birthday nanny". He is the joy of our lives. It is amazing what God creates. Dominic, smiles every day, he is gentle, sweet and gives the best hugs. He is a tuff little guy but when God gave him to us , he knew we needed this little joy.

We are so blessed, and we have a duty to raise him to be the best man he possibly can be.

Thank you God for this gift.

May you be blessed Dominic in all you do.

My Granddaughter Courtney

I would like to introduce the most amazing little miracle God has ever created. She has blue eyes, blonde hair and little features that look like an angel. Her name is Courtney Michelle Brown. She has the entire world at her feet, she can create, design and be anything she wants to be . Her mind is fresh and ready to be developed and molded into thoughts of thousands.
God knows this little angel, he is letting us have is very special. It's up to the parents to show her the right things to do and show her what wrong is. The teaching of the bible is so important, so she can understand her being.

This is a wonderful time in our lives for Courtney to share her love with us. Her smile will light up the room, even if you are having a bad day.. all of my days are good when she is around.

God bless and keep her safe and always wrapped in God's arms.

My Daughters

When you become pregnant for the first time, all you really want is to know is that your little gift from God is healthy and strong. Well when I first found out I was pregnant, I was excited and scared all at once. Back in those days , to know the sex of your unborn was unheard of. So I never even asked when I was in labor, all I did was to pray. It would be over soon, so I could hold my gift.

She was 21' long and weighed 8lbs, beautiful little girl [a daughter yea], three years later, I was introduced to another gift from God, a little girl 8lbs 19; and beautiful. I was truly blessed. I have two wonderful little girls. It hard to imagine that I have two baby girls to teach them to be young women and become mothers one day. They have enhanced my life. God knew that these perfect little souls were exactly what I needed and they needed me. That's not unusual because God knows all and always does the right thing . My daughters have made my life great. Each day I look at them and thank God for giving them to me.

They have turned into wonderful women and kind, considerable, loving, caring and special human beings.

Thank god for all his wonders.

Smells

Have you ever walked into a room and said to yourself "I know that smell", it may be bread baking, chicken frying or my favorite fresh pie cooling. My grandmother had coffee on the stove even in the summer. Our sense of smell is so important to us. think of some of your favorite things to smell.

Here are a few of mine; flowers blooming, fresh wash, newborn baby , favorite perfume, fresh sheets and my favorite is a house filled with love. Oh, I bet you didn't even think a house would have a sense of smell like that. It's that, comfortable feeling of (oh I've been here before or I feel so content here). My grandmother's house was one of those homes. The minute you entered, you felt like this is a loving home. I used to think, how can I make people feel comfortable when they come to my house.

Then I remembered, it's not what you make your home smell like, it's the love that is shared in your house.

I have proved this theory, by going into a home that was filled with hostility and pain or, there seemed to be no smell or a very strong sour sense of no love.

I then went into a home with a newborn child ,and a home with many children these homes were alive with all kinds of sweet smell.

So the next time you sense a smell, stop and take a moment to grasp that sense. Maybe you will remember it later and it will bring you joy in a time of need.

My Girls

I am the mother of two girls, one 21 and the other 24. They are only three years apart, so they have always just been the 'girls' when being spoken about. Signing cards was always done, love dale and girls.

Now these two wonderful young ladies are not my little girls anymore, Jennifer is 21, very independent. She has a side about her that the wall is up so high you sometimes wonder it she has feelings.

Then all of sudden you see that sparkle in her eyes when she looks at a newborn baby. She is so soft and loving.

In the other hand my 24 year old is married and has turned into a wonderful wife and mother. She is better at making decision.

So now my little girls are young women and I'm so very proud.

I was truly blessed because[my girls] have brought pleasure in my life.

love always your mother

Jean

How can I begin to tell you how much you mean to me Just to hear her voice come thru the phone smiling ,is joy. No wonder the county wants her to work for them and take all their important calls. She is such a wonderful person. Always thinks of others and of the church. I don't think I have ever see her in a bad mood, I'm sure she has had a few but she never shows it.
I can share anything with her and my life is so much richer because of her advice.

She is a more than an aunt she is my best friend. I love her with all my heart. May God bless her in all that she does and keep her well.

Shared Memories By Dale

Hi most of you know me as Dale, and I am the oldest child of Myriel Malone Pierce. This is just a little collections of memories of my family. Each of us have favorite memories that we remember when we are sitting alone and our mind wonders. Well, I guess my mind wonders a lot. My family is the most important part of my life. There are so many people in our family and each has a story of their own. I have not wrote little stories, to embarrass anyone, but to tell how they have affected my life.

GOD, is the strength that I depend on always being there for me, in all that I do. With each member of my extended family, he has given me a gift to have these hearts enter my life.

I hope that this will encourage others to keep the memories that you have about your own family, to write it down, and share it with others. We are lucky, for all the hearts that we have in our family.

I hope that you will enjoy the little stories and get a little laugh from them.

With all my love, DALE
