Have you ever walked into a room and said to yourself "I know that smell", it may be bread baking, chicken frying or my favorite fresh pie cooling. My grandmother had coffee on the stove even in the summer. Our sense of smell is so important to us. think of some of your favorite things to smell.
Here are a few of mine; flowers blooming, fresh wash, newborn baby , favorite perfume, fresh sheets and my favorite is a house filled with love. Oh, I bet you didn't even think a house would have a sense of smell like that. It's that, comfortable feeling of (oh I've been here before or I feel so content here). My grandmother's house was one of those homes. The minute you entered, you felt like this is a loving home. I used to think, how can I make people feel comfortable when they come to my house.
Then I remembered, it's not what you make your home smell like, it's the love that is shared in your house.
I have proved this theory, by going into a home that was filled with hostility and pain or, there seemed to be no smell or a very strong sour sense of no love.
I then went into a home with a newborn child ,and a home with many children these homes were alive with all kinds of sweet smell.
So the next time you sense a smell, stop and take a moment to grasp that sense. Maybe you will remember it later and it will bring you joy in a time of need.
